Instructional Video Blog: Single Leg Defense 1
This particular single leg defense works better for shorter guys like myself. It requires you to drop your shoulder below your opponent’s chin. If you are lanky it is a little tougher. It is definitely doable however. Do not rule it out just because you are tall. Try it first and see if it works for you. This single leg defense worked very well for me and I have to credit my former Rhode Island College teammate Mike Martini for teaching me it.
One key point is pushing your leg forward, through your opponent as opposed to pulling your leg down away from him. If you pull your leg away, the move will not be as effective.
