Instructional Video Blog: Arm Drag Slide
The arm drag slide is one of those moves as a wrestler you get to have a little fun with. Some moves when you hit them correctly are just great to watch. When you perform the move you know it and the people watching know it too. I liked to challenge myself to hit difficult and risky moves every once in a while. You never know when your best moves might fail you. You need a backup plan and this move was part of my personal backup plan on my feet.
The flashiness comes with a risk however. If the arm drag slide is done incorrectly you will end up giving your opponent free points or worse. That is why this move should not be your go to finish from an arm drag.
The way I do the arm drag slide in the video below works great for me. You may have learned it a different way and that is ok too, as long as it works for you. There are many ways to get the job done. And that job is to secure takedowns and ultimately victories. Mess around with my version and see if it feels comfortable for you. I can guarantee it won’t at first. Don’t get discouraged.
The band Weezer has a great lyric that you should keep in your head during training, “If you want it, you can have it. But you’ve got to learn to reach out there and grab it.”
