Instructional Video Blog: Arm Drag Single
The next video in the arm drag series will be an arm drag single leg takedown. This move flows off the previous post’s arm drag takedown.
Something needs to be pointed out about my wrestling stance or lack thereof in these videos. I am not in a proper wrestling stance for two reasons. One, I wanted to show that this arm drag series is effective in all competitions not only wrestling. Secondly, my partner in these videos is much taller than me and standing straight up, ready to punch. If I was in my typical wrestling stance it would have been nearly impossible to perform the move.
The moment I hit the arm drag I do not stay standing straight up. I move into my stance and into good wrestling position.
If you have never done an arm drag single before, do it in steps. Get your arm movements right first. Then get your feet shuffling and finally put it all together from a proper wrestling stance. When you are drilling at the highest level, you and your partner always want to be drilling from a good stance. If the move you are drilling won’t work on someone in a good stance then it is worthless against the kind of competition you will face in wrestling. If you are using wrestling to help your grappling and/or MMA game then consider drilling these moves in a more upright position as I am in the video.
Either way drill this move until it feels right for you and drill it to both sides.
